I have used Bare Minerals and now using Pysician’s Formula mineral makeup but both make my skin oil by mid-day. Before the foundation I only use moisturizer and a tinted one. Does anybody have a recommendation for an oil-free, non-comedogenic mineral makeup?
My dermatologist recommended it. She says everyone needs moisturizer even if you have oily skin. And my skin is more oily if I don’t put moisturizer.
I also have extremely oily skin and unfortunately I haven’t found any makeup that won’t cause me to get shiny mid-day. I’ve done mineral foundation, liquid foundation, mousse foundation, just powder… Every single one causes some amount of shine at some point in the day, sadly. The only thing I have found that doesn’t make me as oily as the others is the Boots No. 7 mousse foundation from Target. It’s nice too because it’s cheap and works the best out of all of the ones I have tried. I also have gotten some oil-blotting sheets just to rid myself of shine throughout the day. You’re right to use moisturizer though. I have to put it on in the morning when I get out of the shower because my face is super dry then. What I might also suggest is to purchase an oil-free primer to put on your face after the moisturizer but before you put on your foundation. I use Laura Mercier’s primer and it’s incredible but also expensive. If that’s not in your budget, try and find a primer that you can afford but make sure it is oil-free or has oil control. Okay. Sooo. Im tired of using foundation. Im only 15 & I don’t want to get early wrinkles.I have a lot of redness & about 20 pimples total. I have dry skin, but it tends to get oily around my nose. Basically all of it is on my cheeks. Any homemade recipes. I know ground Cinnamon and pure honey & tea tree oil help.. well I used it.. and it didn’t clear up. I’ve also used lemon juice & smashed banana. I use the Acne Free 3 step, and its terrible! Doesn’t work at all! please help?(:
I use a cream called Brevoxyl (There’s also a stronger form called Panoxyl). Basically, any cream with benzoyl peroxide in helps to kill the bacteria that cause spots, and dry up excess oils. I seriously don’t know what i’d do without it. I use it every morning and evening, and you start to see effects after about 2-3 weeks. I also just use a face scrub to prevent blackheads and pores blocked with oil, which really helps too. Finally, I use a tea tree spot stick, on any individual spots which are particuarly large.
If you are looking for cheap and easy solutions, make sure you use a face scrub (any price) to unblock pores, and if you can’t find a cream or spot stick, use toothpaste to dry up large, oily spots.
This certainly works for me, and I think I have a similar skin type to you, so give it a go, and if possible, I strongly recommend a Benzoyl Peroxide based cream (about £4-5)
