Here are some tips on how to treat acne. I can’t promise that these are the best acne treatments EVER, but they should help. It’s up to you to find which acne treatment works best for you.

Best Acne Treatment – Tip #1 – Ditch the American Diet!

People often underestimate how important the role that diet plays in the treatment of acne. The American diet is the acne sufferers WORST NIGHTMARE! All of the fried foods, sugar, and soda are lurking around you just begging to be consumed. Fast food can be a great time-saver but it certainly doesn’t help you in your fight against acne.

Here’s the catch, altering your diet is not going to be the best short-term acne treatment, but over-time you will see a major difference in the complexion of your skin. Ditch the soad completely, and switch to water. Water will help purify your system, and help you maintain a proper hormonal balance which will produce clearer skin. Skip the fast food, and start eating more raw fruits and vegetables. When a fruit or vegetable is raw it maintains more of it’s nutrient value. Keep this in mind though, radical changes are the hardest ones to stick with. Make small changes to your diet over a period of time and you will be more likely to maintain your new healthy dieting habits.

As with any health advice, you should always consult your physician before making any changes in your diet. I think you’d be hard pressed to find a doctor that recommends that you eat fast food or drink soda. Also, bear in mind that there has been no conclusive evidence that a proper diet cures acne, but a proper diet will certainly improve the appearance of your skin.

Best Acne Treatment – Tip #2 – Don’t Run to the Drug Store Just Yet!

It may be tempting to go searching for the best acne treatment at the local Wal-mart or Walgreens at the initial sign of a break-out, but there are there are a few common household items that have been proven to be very effect acne treatments. Here are a few tips:

1. Ice it down! Before a break-out occurs you can typically feel some discomfort in the area that is about to become a pimple. This is actually your body’s immune system sending blood to the follicle area that has too much of the bacteria that causes acne. By putting ice on the affected area you are doing essentially the same thing that you do when you sprain your ankle and apply ice. You are limiting the amount of blood to the area which can reduce inflammation. This is not an acne cure, but it can definitely limit the size of the break-out, as well as, limit the pain experienced from the break-out.

2. Take extra zinc. If you don’t currently take a multivitamin then you should. If you already do then you should consider taking extra zinc. Zinc is great for strengthening the immune system, as well as, acting as a decent acne treatment. Zinc helps keep your skin strong and acne resistant.

3. Mix honey and mashed apple and apply it as a mask. This is a popular home remedy that is considered one of the best acne treatments outside of the drug store. Apply the mask for twenty minutes and then wash your face thoroughly.

Best Acne Treatment – Tip #2 – When All Else Fails Call the Doc

Believe it or not, the bacteria that causes acne is a bacteria that exists on everyone’s skin. The bacteria is called Propionibacterium acnes and even people who don’t suffer from acne have this bacteria in their follicles. The difference is that people who problems with acne produce too much of this bacteria. The production of this bacteria is tied to the balance of hormones in the body which is why most individuals tend to deal with acne when they are going through puberty.

The point that I’m trying to make is that if you have trouble controlling your acne then don’t be afraid to call the doctor. When it comes to finding the best acne treatment there are few people more qualified than your local dermatologist. For example, one of the popular pharmaceutical treatments for acne is doxycycline because it helps to limit the amount of acne causing bacteria in your system.

If you prefer to use an all-natural remedy then more power to you. There are a lot of all-natural remedies out there on the market. Be prepared for some trial and error though. Everyone’s body chemistry is different and the best acne treatment for you might not be the best acne treatment for someone else. One natural treatment that I have found to be effective is Acnezine, but there are quite a few other options out there that are just an internet search away.
