Can psoriasis never be cured?
for the past two years i am having a teriible thing on my scalp. first it is a pimple kind of thing which pains. after that it bursts or what god knows. after that there are white rough cuticles around some stands of hair. then the white thing turns brown-black and while brushing my hair comes out. I am barely 18 and quite bald. my hair is greasy. i have to shampoo everyday or else my hair starts smelling. doctors dont even tell me what i am suffering from. i have tried antibiotics,homeopathy and even natural products,but my condition is becomming horrendous. my father has eczema,psoriasis and cellulitis. so maybe i also have it. what do i day i am feeling so embaressed …i don’e feel like meeting people and even don’t feel like stepping out of the house
Just to answer your main question, there is not a cure for psoriasis. There are medications, both topical (applied directly to the skin/scalp) and oral (taken by mouth) steroids that help. The dermatologists always recommend shampoos like T-Gel (coal tar mixture) and stress leaving it on for at least five to ten minutes before washing it off. The only thing that I had found that will cause all of the psoriasis on my scalp to disappear is laying in the tanning bed. I only have it on my scalp and have had it for about 12 years. As a teen in high school, I tanned a lot and never had a problem w/ it. When I got older and in college, I decided not to tan because it is bad for the skin and the psoriasis came back. I tried several prescription medications (one burnt like fire, the other was pure grease) and didn’t like either. So, I go to the tanning bed about once a week and just lay my head in it and cover my face as to not increase my risk of skin cancer so much. The ultraviolet light helps a lot. When you shampoo, remember to do it twice in a row. Shampoo your head once, rinse, shampoo again, rinse, and only condition the very ends. Try not to pick at your head, and definitely wash it everyday. There have been times in my life when I have washed my hair in the morning and at night.
